>> Teeny Tucker: I was in the girls glee club starting the seventh grade. And like I told you before, when I was six years old I was probably more free spirited about singing. As I got older I was more shamed, more shy I should say. To sing in front of people, like solo. And they would all say, " you can do it, sing the solo, sing it." And there's a song without now, they played on the radio, it's called " lord, it's been a mighty good day". And one of my friends committed suicide, and we were like in the seventh or eighth grade, and they wanted me to sing that song that her funeral. (Singing). So I just got up there and started singing, and I said OK, I can do this! And from then on, I led all the girls singing in the glee club. I built my compliments, but they helped me build my confidence. And so you know, you always think somebody can do something better than you, but once you start tapping into yourself and really knowing who you are, nothing can change that. You don't compare yourself to anybody else, you don't rate yourself by anybody else. You just be who you are. So, that's where I am in my life. (Laughter) you always want to study excellence, and maybe get something from that, but impart onto yourself, and instill it in you. But don't try to be who they are, just be who you are. I mean, nothing could come out better than that at all. And no one race of people, no one people on earth, no group of people are going to like you all the same. You're always going to give somebody something, and that's the truth. Even if you only touch one person, that night, than you did what you are supposed to do. So if you get one times 10, that's good to. I was look at it like, how can I really bless myself tonight? And if you bless yourself, you're going to bless others. And somebody will see that, most people couldn't keep up with me. I work full time job at the Federal government, I've been there like 27 years. In three years I can retire and I'm going to do music full time. I do music about 20 to 30 hours a week. Actually since I've been recording a new CD I've been doing about 20 hours a week in the studio, writing and getting stuff together. Because I do all of it, we do the business end, we design our own covers for the CD. We do all the liner notes, the writing, engineering, music composition and arrangements, we do it all. On dizzy, you know I worked three jobs. But when you enjoy it, it doesn't seem like work. An hour seems like 30 minutes, 2 hours seems like half an hour, you know. I just think of the time and place in my life right now where I can really do me. So it's a good thing. And then you know once you prepare yourself with my vocal seminars that I'm doing, we want to try to start weekend seminars. You'd be surprised that like how many retired doctors and attorneys and business people, really all they wanted to do in their lifetimes get on stage and sing a song. Imagine that, you know, it makes my heart happy. So I wanna be able to help you do that. So if I do a seminar, you know they come to my seminar, become only fit like 24 or 25 a weekend in your seminar. But we did like a survey, 71 hits in 1 hour. People that wanted a seminar. >> Interviewer: oh my goodness, how many have you done so far? >> Teeny Tucker: well I haven't done any yet. >> Interviewer: Oh so it's all still the planned? >> Teeny Tucker: you've seen a couple of them on the YouTube, the YouTube videos. Just trying to be creative before I retire so I can stay busy. I hate idle time, you've got to keep doing it and keep doing it. My son used to say " you're going to kill me, I'm so tired!" I said, "You know what, we're going to die together, because I'm tired to." (Laughter). You know, I think the two youngest grandchildren are musical, and maybe all three of them. Yeah, I think maybe all three of them. And my daughter, Whitney, she used to sing a lot of the, to do a lot of the musical plays, you know with Saint Charles, with the high school productions. She did a lot of those.
