>>Speaker: And there you go, you tell your story. >>Brenda: My story? It started a long time ago, on a planet far, far away (Chuckles) called Wichita Kansas. My sister 10 years ago told me that she had always knew that I was going to be a teacher. Because I would line up our stuffed toys, and I would be in the back bedroom, teaching them at the age of four. But that didn't really come to fruition until the 1990s when I went to graduate school, and re-fell in love with writing. And now that I teach it, I fall in love with it every day. It's a love hate relationship, some may say it's abusive. Especially when I'm dealing with students who are coming out of high school, and they are told, they are A students in high school, and they end up in a basic writing class. And they're confused and they're hurt and they're angry, and it's my job to defuse all that. And teach them how to write, and teach them what writing really is. And like I said I fall in love with it, all over again, every day.
