My Mother: My Literacy Sponsor Anonymous >>ANONYMOUS: So I think I was in fourth grade and I think I had a presentation for school and my mother insisted that I create an outline for it. It was a one minute presentation and I resisted and she went into some big long speech about no matter how long, whether it was a thirty second commercial or a four hour documentary you needed an outline. So we created an outline and then made some attention-getting intro where I had to do voices and she insisted I practice the voices. I was so upset, I was like, "Nobody else in my class is going to give a presentation like this Mom." So I went and I gave it and it was awesome. It was so good and I got such a good grade on it and such good feedback because it was creative and organized and I really made a good argument and everything and from that point forward I trusted my mother as my literacy sponsor and went to her for everything from that point forward and I credit her for where I landed professionally.
