ELIZABETH TOMLINSON transcript 05/08/11 >>ELIZABETH: I remember when I was 3 or 4 years old, we lived in this house in the country, and my mom was with us a couple hours a day at least, and my mom was kind of those illiterate types of people, so she was encouraging us with tons and tons of books. A lot of those activities that actually stuck with me, she would have my brother and I cut out coupons. Sometimes she would tell us the letters to look for, sometimes she'd have us look for symbols. So that was one of the first steps of literacy.
