My Story Hinson, Denise >>DENISE: Hi, I'm Denise Hinson and I'm with the Bisti Writing Project in the Four Corners area of New Mexico. At first I couldn't think of what I wanted to talk about and then I remembered one of my favorite stories about books was when I was about five or six I discovered the book "Call of the Wild" and I was supposed to go to bed and I kept reading and kept reading and my mom finally came in and turned out the lights. So I waited until she went to bed, snuck into the kitchen, found the flashlight, crawled back into my blankets and read that book all the way through in one night. Of course I had to be up the next day and suffered miserably for it; I've never forgotten that, just being caught in that story the way it was and it's still one of my favorite stories. I guess it's part of a legacy because I have a seventeen year old daughter and that is her favorite book and she reads it over and over so every time I see it I think about the power of a book to keep you up all night.
