Lincoln Park Elementary School Ardister, Nicola NICOLA: I would like to tell a story about Lincoln Park Elementary School, the old school that was on 1666 South 18th St. It's torn down now; it was torn down in 2007. But I remember from one of the years of my life at that school. It was an early year from the kindergarten to the fifth grade. It was a lot of history that took place and one incident I remember very clearly was the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. I think I was in second grade then and I remember our teacher telling us about it and remember running home very afraid. I didn't know what was going to happen. Those were the years that Flippo the Clown came on TV, "Leave it to Beaver" and all those wonderful old shows. One teacher I can remember very clearly in my mind was a teacher named Nicola Lenard; she inspired me because she taught me how to love books and the greatness of reading and to this day I still love to read and write and read books on account of her. Those were some wonderful years of my life and recently I went on a website called Oldschool.com and I found an old picture of the old Lincoln Park. Those were some wonderful, wonderful years of my life that I would never forget. I was - [media cuts off]
