(interviewer) Anything else that you want to share about yourself? (Marissa) I'm currently in my second year of the doctoral program in Art Education here at Ohio State. My background is in dance education. I did an MFA in dance in 2003, and since then I've been working in school and community and university programs for arts education. (interviewer) OK. You have experience not just with Labanotation as a dance notation, but also the Language of Dance... (Marissa) Mmhm. (interviewer) Do you have any... can you think of any moments or incidents that drew, like what drew you initially to either Language of Dance or Labanotation? (Marissa) Yeah. Ok so I'll back it up a little bit. So I... I had this vague idea that dance notation existed and that under a really vague understanding of movement analysis and some guy named Laban, and that was about it, that I knew because my undergraduate degree was in science. And so I took a lot of dance classes but it was mostly studio work, and I knew that there were people doing movement analysis, but I was never in those classes.
