[00:00:03:28] [ Interviewer ] Alright, and what's your story going to be about today? [00:00:06:08] Umm, my story's going to be on the book, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. [00:00:10:23] [ Interviewer ] All right, can you share your story with us? [00:00:13:00] Alright, umm. So like when I was little, the first book that I can recall reading entirely, [00:00:20:14] umm is the giving tree, and... I know it sounds silly to say, because it's a child's book [00:00:28:02] but, it definitely is my most favorite book of all time, umm, for a variety of reasons. [00:00:36:05] It's a book that simply to read, but like you can also read into it, a lot. [00:00:41:17] And it's basically about a little boy's journey through life and, this tree that he has and umm. [00:00:49:11] Like his stages of life, the tree is there to sort of like help him. [00:00:54:27] So like when he's little the limbs of the tree he climbs on [00:00:58:13] and when he's older he eats the apples off the tree [00:01:00:29] and then when he's even older the tree offers him like, the wood, [00:01:05:17] so he can build a house for his family, [00:01:07:29] and then when he's like old, the tree like umm, is just a stump, [00:01:12:08] but the little boy is now like older, like he's an elderly person. [00:01:17:20] So the tree offers him a place to sit. [00:01:20:28] So like throughout his life, it sort of chronicles [00:01:24:09] how the tree is always there to give and give and give, hence the giving tree. [00:01:29:00] And so, I don't know, it just like...The whole book, like the plot of the book [00:01:36:10] sort of just like, highlighted the fact that like, to me personally it's just like how... [00:01:41:20] Parents sort of like give you so much and stuff, and like you kind of take it for granted, [00:01:47:02] and like they just give you so much and like, they continue to give you so much [00:01:52:15] even after like they don't need to and stuff and it's just, I don't know, it just really impacted me. [00:01:58:22] [ Interviewer] Alright. Now that you're older do you feel... [00:02:02:11] like sometimes it's sort of inspired you to be the tree and to be the one that gives? [00:02:08:02] Umm, yeah definitely. I mean, I'm definitely not like... the best person in the world, [00:02:14:29] but I do try to help when I can and stuff. [00:02:16:22] And I know that when I start a family I want to help my children to and like, [00:02:21:07] even when they're old and stuff, I still want to be there helping them [00:02:23:29] even if it annoys them and, umm. Yeah, definitely. [00:02:28:20] [ Interviewer ] Alright. Do you think you'll share this book with your kids? [00:02:32:26] I definitely will that's going to be the first book they read, I'll make sure of it. [00:02:37:14] [ Interviewer ] Yeah, great.
