[00:00:00:02] [ Interviewer ] Can you give me your name and something about yourself? [00:00:04:12] My name is Angus Gray and I'm studying nursing at OSU. [00:00:09:28] [ Interviewer ] And what is your story about? [00:00:12:07] My story is about how I came from a very small town and there are a lot of cultural differences [00:00:19:29] between my town of like 8,000 people to Columbus with a lot of people. [00:00:27:00] [ Interviewer ] Where exactly are you from? [00:00:29:08] I'm from a town like an hour and a half north of here and kind of to the west [00:00:32:22] a little bit called Kenton, Ohio, its near the Finley and Lima area. [ Interviewer ] Cool, cool. [00:00:36:20] [ Interviewer ] You were talking a little bit about musical differences, [00:00:40:22] what kind of musical differences did you notice? [00:00:44:23] Well in my hometown, as stereotypical as it is, [00:00:46:24] if you live out in the country you do listen to a lot of country and bluegrass. [00:00:52:28] When you would show up to a party or hung out with friends [00:00:54:28] you would not be playing rap music or hip hop or any of that stuff, [00:00:57:29] you would like listen to anything from rock to metal to country. [00:01:01:15] It was pretty much anything but rap and hip hop. [00:01:05:08] [ Interviewer ] And so what changed when you came here? [00:01:13:05] Umm, well, the main thing that changed was my social activities [00:01:17:07] Back in my hometown there wasnt a whole lot to do. [00:01:21:08] The only thing we had was a bowling alley so... [00:01:25:09] umm everyone would go in town and we would always be playing sports outside. [00:01:27:09] We'd be playing soccer, pickup game of football at a park [00:01:30:10] or we played basketball at the fields. [00:01:33:26] Sometimes we'd go like something as stupid as crayfishing in rivers [00:01:37:21] and just like airsofting, paintballing, anything outside really. [00:01:45:17] [ Interviewer ] And how would you say there was differences between here in like schooling-wise? [00:01:53:19] The teachers were a lot more laid-back I guess. [00:01:57:20] Everything was just a lot more laid back really. [00:02:01:21] There's a lot less people. Everyone got to know each other a lot better [00:02:05:05] you know you got to know your neighbors like very well. [00:02:08:29] I like lived out in the middle of nowhere so the difference between when I moved from [00:02:13:13] out of town to in town was uhh you were very good friends with your next door neighbors. [00:02:21:02] [ Interviewer ] How would you say what you expected of Ohio State [00:02:29:08] or of living in the big city compared to what it actually was? [00:02:33:07] Well I never really spent a whole lotta time in the city since the nearest one the size of Columbus [00:02:38:28] is Columbus, like the nearest city is literally an hour and a half away from where I live. [00:02:43:14] So, uhh, I didn't really know what to expect. I knew it was gonna be a lot faster paced I guess. [00:02:49:13] I uhh, knew there were gonna be like a lot more things to do like building-wise [00:02:56:09] as weird as it sounds like I wouldnt be doing as much stuff outside because [00:02:58:17] there arent as many places to hang outside, be outside. [00:03:01:26] Umm I go to like a lot more concerts now because theyre like right next to me. [00:03:08:07] I can go to literally any concert I want to within 15 minutes of where I live [00:03:11:29] so I think thats really cool.
