Tribute to Mom Finch, Kenneth >>KENNETH: I'm Kenneth Finch; this is - as well as most students I'm sure - is a tribute to my mothers. As far back as I can remember from around ages three to six, she'd put me to sleep on Sunday afternoons with little golden books. Around age four to five she started picking out small letter words for me to pick up on to help me out in kindergarten. By the time I was six years old I would be reading the books back to her. I guess that's where I consumed most of my ability to read and write. She would also have me write those small three or four letter words out. I owe all that to her. Kindergarten was stuff I pretty much knew; I knew the alphabet prior to kindergarten. By the time we were in first grade I was reading with everyone else.
