Dr. Sally Crisp Anokye, Janet JANET: Well my literacy started simple, I called it Dr. Sally Crisp because she really, really helped me to come out of my shell. All of the time I looked down on my writing, I was not a confident writer, I have thought for years and have been in a great school but still I thought I was a bad writer because anytime I write I have to think it back and forth, even until the time I have to turn in my work I still didn't feel confident enough until I did an internship at the writing center and Dr. Allison Holland mentioned a lower writing project to me and I'm glad I took that opportunity because when I took that program with Dr. Sally Crisp, she really, really helped me. She is the one who said it is ok to make a mistake as a writer. I didn't think it was and she told us also about the writing process, the importance of using it and how everybody can be a writer. I remember her telling us that we should write down "I'm a writer" and as soon as I did that it worked like magic. I have always thought to myself that I'm a writer since that day and I don't fear writing anymore. I don't care about the number of pages that I'm being asked to write, I always see myself as a writer and now I love writing, I'm a fan of my own writing and I'm so glad that I met her and I thank her for giving me that opportunity.
