Time transcripts of #3 David Martin No Notes [00:00:00.07] I found myself, unknowingly, [00:00:03.97] in front of a congregation of about 800 [00:00:07.97] and it was my turn to speak to them. [00:00:11.90] And I went to get my, my typed up talk, [00:00:18.27] prepared talk and it wasn't in my folder. [00:00:22.99] And I thought, "What am I going to do now?" [00:00:30.25] And um, one of my counselors, he saw me fidgeting [00:00:35.89] and he was going to speak first, followed by me, [00:00:38.27] and I said, "I didn't bring my notes." [00:00:41.62] And his response was, "Well, do you want me to take longer?" [00:00:45.87] Well um, I told him "No," [00:00:50.41] that I just needed to trust, [00:00:56.50] so that was the first time that I spoke with no notes, [00:01:03.94] and I thought after I sat down, [00:01:07.74] I really wondered what I had said, [00:01:11.03] because there were just so many thoughts that came in my mind [00:01:15.62] and I just had the trust [00:01:18.06] that where they were coming from was what I needed to say, [00:01:22.13] and plus, I had practically memorized my talk, [00:01:25.13] as I do, as I did all of them, [00:01:27.54] but it was more of a crutch. [00:01:29.94] Because when I had the notes in front of me, [00:01:33.09] I would rarely look up, because I needed to make sure I kept my place. [00:01:38.44] Maybe it was stemmed from when I was sixteen years old.
