dc.description I wrote this literacy narrative in response to an assignment given to us by Dr. Kimberly Harrison, Director of Writing Programs at Florida International University, as part of a graduate course (Teaching Composition). She asked us to write a 3-4 page literacy narrative in an hour, and I did try my best to follow those instructions. A few years later, I became a full-time writing instructor at FIU, and I've been assigning literacy narratives to my students since then as their first writing project in our first semester writing course. As much as it pains me, I have not made any corrections to the text. My hope is that some of my students will see this and realize that I, like them, cannot write a perfect first draft. en_US
